MAGIC

I BELIEVE IN MAGIC

I believe we all have magic inside of us.

It’s not the kid of magic we wish it was.

We all want the type of magic we see in others.

Never the kind we already have.

YAN BELIEVES IN MAGIC TOO.

She sees it everywhere.

She paints with it,

A camera in hand.

No one has ever seen me the way she does.

If ever you wonder how it feels for me to be in this body.

Take a peek and read her poem below.

I love you Yan.

I believe in Magic
The kind found in the ordinary ingredients of a day and lifetime-
The kind found in our working hands and our tired feet at night
In the power of spoken truth to set soul geography
in motion
In the strength of resilient hearts fighting for open circles the world seems unprepared to expand-
I believe in Magic
The way air can carry the scent of change
Can feel like instantaneous possibility
Where only moments ago was stuck despair
I believe in Magic
In the motion of our efforts appearing
As a powerful painting-
As the art of our lives
With some strokes
a deep, dark purple pulse,
some blood red sacrifice,
some growing and hopeful,
the lightest shade of green--
I believe in Magic

The magic of belief
That when we say
we can do more
We can be more-
When we speak it to ourselves first thing in the bright rushing morning
And again and again in our darkest, loneliest hours,
As a promise
And a prayer
Then we can,
Then we will,
Then we must--
Not because you aren't enough
But because you are-
Now live it!
I believe in Magic, even if it's only witnessed
By the quiet walls of our home
The eyes of our children
Ever studying
And learning how to be
Kind. How to be honest.
How to know a moment
And give themselves to it
The joy waiting in breakfast,
The wonder of a day to wrap in
I believe in Magic
In how those among us
Who have been the most knocked down
Possess it with a potency
We are only beginning to witness
And hoping to understand.
